Administration Manager - Risk Transfer Team
We’re growing and want you to be a part of our journey.
We’re looking for an experienced Pensions Administrator looking for a fresh challenge, with significant UK DB pensions experience, to join our Risk Transfer team as an Administration Manager in our Belfast office. As part of this role you’ll be working in Isio’s Actuarial & Consulting team – over 400 pensions experts – actuaries and consultants, with a very close link to Isio’s wider Pensions Administration business.
We advise on a range of areas to help trustees and sponsors to manage their defined benefit plans. The range of work we get involved with is vast and there’ll be opportunities for you to gain lots of great, new experiences, focussing on supporting the transition of pension schemes who are transitioning to insurance. There will be lots of opportunity to put your skills to the test as part of the wider administration functions that Isio complete.
Role Purpose:
In this newly created role, you will have a unique position in supporting Isio’s Actuarial & Consulting team by working alongside actuaries and consultants in the risk transfer team. Your focus will include administrative duties for transitioning pension schemes to insurance - such as preparing and verifying scheme member data during buy-in quotation phases, supporting trustees in meeting obligations until responsibilities transfer to insurers, and assisting the wider Pensions Administration Team with BAU tasks.
Experience in insurance transaction processes (e.g., streamlined data collation, benefit specification review) is advantageous, while maintaining workflow efficiency across general administration activities is essential for this fast-paced role.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Working alongside the Insurance team to progress both pre and post buy-in administrative tasks. This will include a variety of time critical tasks and so will require ability to effectively manage different workstreams and deadlines. Examples include:
- Collation of data as part of the insurer’s stream-lined data collation processes;
- Answering queries on data and benefits and ensuring timescales are met for provision of complete data to insurers;
- Marital tracing and address tracking including bulk member write-outs via write-out exercises and collation of responses;
- Managing data requests and supplementary information required for small scale GMP reconciliation, GMP rectification and GMP equalisation projects.
- Outside the project insurance tasks, you will be required to work with other administrators and assist in workflow for wider scheme activity. This will involve completing or review of ongoing administration tasks including performing or reviewing complex calculations, checking entry of updated pensions data and answer enquiries to the required standard using both automated and non-automated manual/system process across a wide range of member or scheme events.
- Working closely with the risk and compliance team to ensure errors, omissions and complaints are handled as accordance with agreed procedures and within appropriate timescales.
- Keeping abreast of technical developments, procedural and legislative changes, able to discuss and action upon the implications.
Key Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Pensions Administrator with experience and knowledge of delivering administration services to Defined Benefit pension schemes.
- Experience of administration processes as part of insurance transactions will be beneficial (but not essential). This includes collation of data for stream-lined quotation templates, review of benefit specifications and confirmation of administrative practice and liaising with the insurance team on completing administrative tasks both prior to and post buy-in transaction.
- Experience of managing small ad-hoc projects including GMP reconciliation, GMP rectification and data required for GMP equalisation.
- Ability to perform complex pension calculations, and the ability to peer review other calculations to a high standard of accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of member calculation processes, Defined Benefit (DB) scheme knowledge, scheme types and governing legislation issues.
- Good communication skills, and the ability to communicate with clients, members and colleagues with impact and credibility.
- Excellent prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet insurer deadlines and achieve SLAs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a desire to improve ways of working
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. PMI) – desirable
